Small moves across Auckland, flat to flat

The jobs posted here follow Auckland's housing. A room out of a student flat in Grafton at the end of semester. A couple leaving a CBD apartment for a townhouse in Hobsonville Point with a bed, a couch and a car load of boxes. Someone downsizing from a Howick family home into a unit in Pakuranga. A single wardrobe or a dining table going out to Massey because the new place came unfurnished. A pickup from a light industrial unit in Penrose or East Tamaki, usually a few big items rather than a full load.

Access is what a driver sizes up first in Auckland. Villas through Ponsonby, Grey Lynn and Mount Eden have steep front steps, narrow hallways and shared cross-lease driveways a long van cannot turn in. Newer buildings in the city, Newmarket and New Lynn can have height limits on the basement carpark, a loading bay that needs booking and a service lift the body corporate controls. Arterials like Dominion Road and Remuera Road run clearways at peak, so there is nowhere legal to stop. Put the harbour bridge or the Southern Motorway between the two ends and a short shift on the map can still be a slow one at peak.

Each bid is a driver's own call on your job. A driver heading back down the Southern Motorway to Papakura after a morning run can add a Mount Eden pickup on the way, so that bid is priced around a trip already being made. A van and one person costs less to run than a truck and a crew, and on a cross-lease driveway in Grey Lynn a long truck is the wrong tool anyway. Drivers price what they can see, so list every item with rough sizes, add photos, and say which floor, whether there is a service lift or stairs, and whether the loading bay needs booking.
