Small moves around Hastings and Havelock North

This is for one or two rooms rather than a whole house. A flat shift between the older bungalow streets of Mayfair, Raureka and Akina. A bedroom's worth heading out to a bach at Haumoana or Te Awanga for the summer. Someone arriving for the packhouse season with a bed, a couch and boxes to get into a shared house at Flaxmere. Single items suit it too, a wardrobe bought second hand on Heretaunga Street, a fridge from a click and collect counter on Omahu Road, a couch bought off Trade Me and picked up in Havelock North.

Hastings sits on the Heretaunga Plains, so there are no hills in town and almost nothing to load through a lift. Most of it is single storey on a flat section with a front path. The awkward parts are elsewhere. Central parking is time limited, and the village streets around Joll Road in Havelock North fill up early. Properties climbing towards Te Mata Peak can have steep, narrow driveways. Out at Twyford, Bridge Pa and Maraekakaho a driveway can be long shingle with a gate to open, and harvest traffic is heavy on Omahu Road.

Distances here are short. Hastings is compact and Napier is a short trip up the expressway, so a small move can fit around a run a driver is already making. That is why the bids differ. Each driver prices their own, weighing the load, the access at both ends and whether it goes in one run or two. A van and one person costs less to run than a truck and a crew.
