Man With a Van Hire Anywhere in New Zealand | SoundMove

Man with a van, without the ring around

Post what you need shifted, once. Verified drivers with vans and small trucks can bid with their own prices, and you choose which bid to accept.

  • ID-verified drivers
  • Payment held until the job's done
  • Free to post, no obligation

Finding a van driver the old way can be slow going: you ring around, leave messages, and wait on quotes that turn up after the day you needed the job done. SoundMove works the other way around. You describe the job once, add a photo or two, and drivers decide whether to bid on it. Posting is free, and you are under no obligation to accept anything.

What it means

A van, a driver, and your job

A man with a van, the way Kiwis use the phrase, is an owner-operator running a van or a small truck and taking on the jobs that are too big for the car and too small for a full removal crew. That is exactly the kind of job you can post on SoundMove. The drivers here are not employees of ours and we do not own a single vehicle. SoundMove is the marketplace where you and they find each other, and every driver is identity-verified before they are allowed to bid on anything.

How it works

Post once, drivers come to you

Here is the whole process. You post the job free with the pickup and drop-off, roughly what is being shifted and when you need it done. Drivers who want the job bid with their own prices. You compare the bids, look at each driver's profile and what they have included in their bid, and accept the one you are happiest with. Once the job is booked you can message your driver. Your payment is charged when you accept a bid and held securely until the job's done. We release it to the driver when you confirm, or automatically 24 hours after they mark it done if you haven't raised an issue. If something does go wrong, the SoundMove Guarantee can contribute up to $500 towards an insurance excess on an accepted insurance claim, subject to terms.

What people post

The everyday jobs

The jobs people post here are the everyday ones: a couch that will not fit in the hatchback, a fridge bought off Trade Me, a flat shift with a bed, a desk and a stack of boxes. If you are shifting a whole household of small items, small moves is the right place to start, and for single items or a lounge suite, have a look at furniture delivery. One thing worth being clear about: whether the driver helps you carry things up the drive or the stairs is agreed directly with that driver, not set by us. Drivers are independent operators who price their own bids, so put the details in your listing, and confirm anything outstanding with your driver in the messages once the job is booked, so you will both know where you stand.
