How far ahead should I post a Tauranga furniture job?

Jobs are scheduled at least 24 hours ahead and can be set up to 90 days out. Post as soon as the date is roughly settled. Giving a window of a couple of days rather than one fixed hour leaves drivers more ways to fit your furniture around trips they have already planned across Tauranga.

Why do bids differ for the same Mount Maunganui drop?

Each driver is pricing their own day. One may already be running down Hewletts Road with room left in the van, another is making the trip only for you. Load size, stairs at a Mount apartment, parking on Maunganui Road and how flexible your dates are all feed in. That is why the bids are worth reading side by side.

When am I charged for a Tauranga furniture delivery?

Posting is free and the bids cost you nothing. You are charged when you accept a bid, and SoundMove holds that payment until the job's done, then releases it when you confirm, or automatically 24 hours after the driver marks it done if you haven't raised an issue. Drivers mark checkpoints as they go, On my way, Picked up and Delivered. The SoundMove Guarantee is up to $500 towards an insurance excess on an accepted claim.

What to know about Tauranga

The local detail that shapes what drivers bid on a furniture delivery job here.

Furniture shifting in Tauranga follows the way the city grows. Beds, wardrobes and dining suites go east to the new streets off Papamoa East and Wairakei, or up to Pyes Pa and The Lakes, where the house is finished well before the furniture catches up. A downsizer leaving a big Otumoetai or Bethlehem section for a retirement village unit or a flat near the Mount usually has four or five pieces coming with them. Then there are single items, a second-hand sofa found in Greerton going to a first flat in the Avenues.

Drivers here plan around water and bottlenecks more than distance. The Mount sits a few kilometres from the city centre over the harbour bridge, but when Hewletts Road and Totara Street are stacked with port traffic the way round is Maungatapu and SH29A. Turret Road and Fifteenth Avenue bank up at the Hairini end, Barkes Corner slows anything through Greerton, and both Takitimu Drive and the Tauranga Eastern Link are tolled. At the door it is steep driveways in Welcome Bay, Ohauiti and Maungatapu, narrow shared drives in the Avenues and Otumoetai, and time-limited parking and apartment lifts to work around on Maunganui Road.

Bidding suits this work because each driver prices their own trip. A driver heading back into town empty after a container drop at the port at Mount Maunganui prices your dresser on top of a run they were making anyway. One coming out to Tauranga only for you prices the whole thing. The vehicle counts too: a long truck cannot get up a Welcome Bay drive at all, so the van that fits is the one bidding. The bids land side by side, each with the driver's profile and any reviews from completed jobs, so you can pick on more than the number.

That is between you and the driver, so put it in the listing. Note the slope, the turning space at the top, how narrow the drive is and whether a long van can back in. Say if a piece needs two people. Drivers price what they can see, and you can sort the last details in the messages once the job is booked.
