Click and collect pickup and delivery NZ | SoundMove

Click and collect orders, picked up and delivered

You have paid for it online and the store is holding it. Post the pickup on SoundMove, compare bids from ID-verified drivers, and choose who goes.

  • ID-verified drivers
  • Payment held until the job's done
  • Free to post, no obligation

What people post

  • A flat-pack wardrobe waiting at a collection counter
  • A television that will not fit in the car
  • A washing machine or fridge ordered for branch pickup
  • A mattress or bed base held in store
  • A barbecue or outdoor dining setting
  • Timber, sheet goods and paint on a trade counter order
  • Tiles, taps and fittings for a bathroom job
  • A desk and chair for a home office
  • A cot, pram or nursery set reserved in another suburb
  • An order sitting at a branch in another town
  • Bulk garden bags, soil and pavers from a yard
  • Anything the boot will not close on

Click and collect works right up until you see the box. If it will not fit in the car, if you have no vehicle, or if the branch holding your order is in another town, that order just sits there. Post the pickup on SoundMove with the order details, and drivers can bid to collect it and bring it to your door.

How it works

How it works

Three steps. No messing around.

Post it

Posting is free. Put in the branch address, the order number and the name it is under, the counter hours, the size and weight of the item, where it is going, and your dates, which need to be at least 24 hours ahead.

Drivers bid

ID-verified drivers bid with their own prices. Compare the bids alongside each driver's profile and ratings, watch any public questions they ask on the job, and take your time. You are not obliged to accept any of them.

Choose and book

Accept the bid you want. Your payment is charged and held by SoundMove until the job's done, and messaging opens with your driver.

How SoundMove protects you

Built into every booking, not an optional extra.

Payment held until the job's done

You are charged when you accept a bid. The money sits with SoundMove until the job's done. We release it to the driver when you confirm, or automatically 24 hours after they mark it done if you haven't raised an issue.

ID-verified drivers

Drivers are identity verified before they can bid, and where a driver has completed jobs you can read their ratings and reviews.

Message your driver

Messaging opens once the job is booked, so access, parking and timing get sorted in one place.

When you cannot collect it yourself

The item turned out to be longer than the back seat. The car is a hatchback and the box is a flat-pack wardrobe. The only branch with stock is in another town. Or the counter shuts before you finish work. The order is paid for and ready, and the missing piece is a vehicle and a spare pair of hands.

These are small, specific jobs. A renter with no van, someone whose ute is tied up on a site, a parent collecting a cot on the far side of the city, a grandparent who would rather not wrestle a mattress into a station wagon. One item, one fixed pickup address, one drop. That is the shape of work a driver can slot into a run they are already doing.

It also covers the orders you bought while you were somewhere else. Holiday purchases, an appliance snapped up at a branch in another region, a piece of furniture reserved near family. Going back for it means making the trip twice. A driver who covers that route can take the collection on instead, and you deal with the item at your end rather than in the middle of a trip.

What the driver needs from you

A collection job lives or dies on the details you put in the listing. Give the full branch address rather than the retailer's main site, the order or reference number, the name the order is under, and the hours the counter is open for pickups. Say whether you have had the message telling you it is ready. A driver bidding on a job with all of that in front of them is pricing the real trip, not guessing at it.

Rules about who may collect an order on your behalf are set by each store, so check yours when you place the order or before you post the job. Put whatever your store asks for in the job description so drivers can factor it into the bid, and confirm the same details with your driver in the messages once the job is booked. Have anything the counter needs ready before the pickup window opens.

Then describe the item the way a driver needs to hear it. Rough dimensions, weight, how many boxes, whether it is strapped to a pallet, and whether staff at the counter load it or you are expected to. Do the same for your end: stairs, lifts, narrow driveways, gates, and where a van can legally stop. Anything heavy enough to need two people should be said out loud in the listing.

How the bidding works on a pickup job

There is no set rate for a collection, because SoundMove does not price the work. Drivers are independent, run their own vehicles and decide what a job is worth to them. One stop and one drop is a tidy shape of work, and a driver already heading past that branch, or coming back empty from another job nearby, can price it differently to a driver starting the day for it. A van and one person also costs less to run than a truck and a crew.

Posting is free and you are under no obligation to accept anything, so putting the job up to see what comes in costs you nothing. Each bid shows you that driver's own price along with their profile and any ratings from jobs they have completed, and a driver new to SoundMove may not have any yet. Questions and answers are public on the job, so an answer one driver gets is visible to every other bidder.

Jobs on SoundMove are scheduled at least 24 hours ahead and up to 90 days out, so next-day and short-notice collections are fine, but nothing can be booked inside that first day. If the store holds the order for a set number of days, put that deadline in the listing. Once you accept a bid, your payment is charged and held by SoundMove until the job's done, and messaging opens with that driver. SoundMove releases it when you confirm, or automatically 24 hours after the driver marks it done if you haven't raised an issue. The driver marks the job On my way, Picked up and Delivered as they go, and a delivery photo is optional, so ask for one up front if you want it.

Common questions

Every store sets its own rules for collection by someone else, so check your store's collection terms before you post. Put what it asks for in the job description so drivers can factor it into the bid, and confirm it with your driver in the messages once you have booked.
